Wild-Card Cardinals

Cards Skipper Tony LaRussa Hoist his 3rd WS Trophy
On Friday night Rangers OF David Murphy flied out to Cardinals Left Fielder Alan Craig to give St. Louis a 6-2 World Series win in game seven. The Cardinals had just won their 11th World Series Championship putting them second all time behind the Yankees 27.

On August 25th the St. Louis Cardinals were 9.5 games back of the Atlanta Braves for the lead in the NL wild-card, and with only a month left of the season. Nobody thought they would be in the playoffs let alone winning the World Series. even Cardinals Third Baseman David Freese said that if you would of told him in the begging of September that the Cardinals would be in the playoffs he would have said "No chance." Freese was the World Series MVP after hitting the walk off home run in game six to force a game seven, and in game seven he got the cardinals going by tieing the game at 2-2 with a two run double. Freese also set a record for the most RBI's in postseason history with 21, and batted .397 through out the postseason. As for the Rangers they also set a World Series record by allowing the most walks in a World Series with 41 (no typo.) This has been the second straight season that the Texas Rangers have walked away just short of their first World Series title in their history.

Cardinals celebrate in clubhouse after winning their 11th WS
So with the Cardinals accomplishing baseballs number one goal. What does this mean for Albert Pujols? He is set to be a free agent this season, and the Cardinals still haven't signed him to a long term deal. I'll be very surprised if St. Louis does not bring him back, because without Pujols most likely the Cardinals wouldn't have even made it to the playoffs. Pujols batted .355 hit five home runs, and tallied 20 RBI's to help push the Cardinals into the playoffs. In the World Series Pujols tied the record for most home runs in a World Series game with three hall of famers Reggie Jackson and Babe Ruth were the only others to do so. He also kept the Cards in the game in game six when he hit a double with one out to get on base, and later would draw an intentional walk to put him on first base and move John Jay to second. Giving Lance Berkman the opportunity to step in single in Jay and tie the dramatic game six in the 10th inning.

Ron Washington after losing his second straight WS as
The Rangers were outscored 38-30 by the Cardinals
For the Cardinals not to bring back Pujols it would be a huge mistake as St. Louis has won two World Series in the past five years during Pujols tenure. With that being said I would expect the Cardinals to try and bring Pujols back come hell or high water, however look out for the Chicago Cubs this off season. The Cubs acquired GM Theo Epstein from the Boston Redsox this year, and Epstein has been know for making big deals for big market players. You can expect the Cubs to be in the bidding war for Albert as the Cubs haven't won a World Series in 105 years.

NFL Scores & Predictions Week 8

Arizona @ Baltimore:  Baltimore needs to get back on track in order to win the AFC North. I think they do it this game with Ray Rice going over 100 yards Rushing & Anquan Boldin Scores a TD Vs his former team. Baltimore wins 24-13

Minnesota @ Carolina:  Cam Newton wins his second straight game at home, and his second game Vs a QB of the class of 2011, but Christian Ponder still performs well. Carolina wins 28-21 (OT)

Jacksonville @ Houston:  Andre Johnson is out for a 3rd straight week, but i still expect Houston to take advantage of what Baltimore didn't. Houston wins an easy one 27-13

Miami @ New York Giants:  Brandon Marshall has already guaranteed a win for the Dolphins in this one. Too bad hes wrong. Gmen win it 24-14

New Orleans @ St. Louis:  The Rams have been outscored 171-56 this season I expect the left hand column to go up, and the right hand column to stay the same. Saints destroy 35-0

Indianapolis @ Tennessee:  After losing 62-7 last week Vs the Saints the Colts are still looking for their first win of the 2011 season, but they still wont get it. Titans win 20-17

Washington @ Buffalo:  I'll say this again regardless who the skins have at QB their still not good Santana Moss is out 5-7 weeks & RB Tim Hightower is on IR. Bills Fred Jackson goes for 100 yards on the ground, and back up C.J. Spiller returns a punt for a TD. Bills win 28-16

Detroit @ Denver:  The Lions are on a 2 game losing streak, and people still aren't sure what to think of them. Tim Tebow proved he's a clutch player, and at Mile High Stadium you'll be able to hear the Tebow chants miles away. Matthew Stafford is questionable, but even if he doesn't play i still like Lions backup Shaun Hill. Lions win 24-17 (It's hard to go against Tebow)

New England @ Pittsburgh:  Game Of The Week! Another tough game Hines Field will be going Crazy for this one. The Patriots have won 5 of their last 6 meetings here, but i don't think they can get it done in this one. Pitt wins it 24-21 (Last second FG)

Cincinnati @ Seattle:  Rookie Andy Dalton has been outstanding this season, and so has the Bengals D which is ranked 4th in the league. But can they handle one of the loudest stadiums in the league? I guess will find out, but as of right now my moneys on Seattle 21-10

Cleveland @ San Francisco:  Cleveland's defense has surprised everyone their in the top 5 in the NFL, and are 3-3, but i don't think they can beat the 49ers and Ted Ginn Jr. 49ers win 27-20

SNF Dallas @ Philadelphia:  Game Of The Week! The NFC East remains very much in question, but Philly is 12-0 after the Bye week under head coach Andy Reid. I think they improve to 13-0 as The Eagles win it 28-24

MNF San Diego @ Kansas City:  Kansas City is looking like the team they were last year, Phillip Rivers is struggling, and the Chiefs are at home. Matt Cassell to Dwayne Bowe is becoming a lethal weapon for the Chiefs lately so i like them in this match up. Chiefs win 27-18

FREESE! Were Going To Game 7

With the Rangers up 7-5 heading into the bottom of the 9th Texas needed just three more outs to capture their first World Series title in franchise history, and with closer Neftali Feliz on the mound their wasn't many doubters. Feliz has been outstanding this postseason posting a 2.38 ERA, and before tonight going 6 for 6 in save opportunitys.

Freese Triples over OF Nelson Cruz
To start of the inning Feliz got one quick out by striking out Ryan Theriot with a high fastball. Up next was Albert Pujols in what could have been his final at bat as a Cardinal, Pujols doubles to left center field. It was Pujols first hit of the World Series since game 3. Lance Berkman was next to the plate hitting over .400 this postseason, Berkman singled to right advancing Albert Pujols to third. With runners on the corners Alan Craig stepped up to the plate, Craig homered in the 8th inning cutting the Cards deficit to two, but Craig couldn't come threw this time. Craig popped up, and the Rangers were only one out away from their first World Series title in franchise history. Still with runners on the corners Third Baseman David Freese stepped up to bat, Freese has a .393 average and a .787 slugging percentage this postseason. so I asked myself. What would Freesus do? The NLCS MVP triples to right field over the outstretched glove of Right Fielder Nelson Cruz. Pujols and Berkman score, and the game its tied at seven. The bases would load up later that inning, and Cardinals fans were going crazy. Untill Shortstop Rafael Furcal grounded out to the pitcher killing the Cardinals ninth inning rally.

Josh Hamilton hits the go ahead home run

Still Momentum had shifted to the Cardinals favor, and with Closer Jason Motte coming to pitch the top of the 10th the Cardinals were expecting an easy one, two, three inning. But the Rangers just wont go away as Shortstop Elvis Andrus hits a single up the middle putting him on first. With no outs slugger Josh Hamilton stepped into the batters box, and decks a two run home run to left center field. Just like that momentum swung back into Texas favor, and the Cardinals were down 9-7 in the bottom of the 10th. The Cardinals would get out of the rest of the inning without any further damage done, but yet again the Cards had to hope for a miracle, as Texas was staring down their first World Series Championship.

Scott Feldmen Reacts to game tieing single
The Cardinals were quickly at two outs after a Ryan Theriot ground out scored a run. The Cardinals were down 9-8 with John Jay at first, and Albert Pujols at bat, but the Rangers aren't having any heroics by Pujols, as they allow Albert to reach first with a free pass. John Jay goes to second base and Lance Berkman steps into the Batters box, and with Rangers Outfielders playing deep, Berkman takes advantage by singling to right field off of Rangers pitcher Scott Feldman. Berkman placed the ball right in between the infield and the Right Fielder allowing John Jay to score easily, and tieing the game a nine all. Lance Berkman was last in the World Series in 2005 with the Houston Astros when they lost to the Cardinals, and this time as a member of the Cardinals he wasn't losing with them. The Rangers had seen enough, as Scott Feldman got the next batter out (Alan Craig) before the Cardinals could threaten.

But the damage had already been done for the second straight inning the Cardinals have came back from behind, and once again momentum was in the Cardinals favor. Starter Jake Westbrook came out to pitch the 11th for the Cards. Allowing a no out single had the Cardinals, and 47,000 fans in attendance thinking "Here we go again," but with the pitcher coming up to the plate Skipper Ron Washington A.K.A. Uncle Ron wanted the position player Esteban German to bat. with German's first World Series at bat he grounds into a double play. Westbrook would get Ian Kinser to pop out to right, and the Rangers are left scoreless for the first time in two innings.

David Freese 11th inning walk off home run
Going into the bottom of the 11th David Freese was set to lead off the inning, and again i asked myself what would Freesus do? Shortly after I heard CRACK! David Freese had just hit a walk off home run to straight away center field as Cardinal fans jumped out of their seats, and ran into the Center Field grass to get the ball, and David Freese has done it again this time winning the game for the Cards. Freese hit his fifth home run of the post season, and America is going to wittiness their first game seven since 2002 when the Diamonbacks beat the Yankees in walk off fashion. Game seven between the Cardinals and Rangers kicks off tomorrow at 8:05pm eastern time.

Who Needs Em: Redsox, Yankees, Phillies

Usually for the World Series ratings to take off baseball fans are more interested in a series involving one or two of these three teams. But as we look back at this game, and the series i say "Who needs em." Game six is without question one of the best games baseball has ever seen. With five errors coming before the sixth inning of Thursdays game (Three of which committed by St. Louis.) Nobody would have thought that this could turn out into one of the best baseball has to offer. This Series has been filled with drama and anxiety weather its been Albert Pujols record tieing three home run game in game three, Pinch Hitter Alan Craigs game winning single in game one, or Mike Napolis game winning two run homer in game five. When you look back at this series regardless of who the winner is you have to consider it to be one of the greatest World Series of all time.

S/O to my friend Brian Brennan for his headline (Praise Freesus) i didn't use it but it gave me some ideas. Follow him on twitter @bbri1991.

It's My Time To Shine!

It's week seven in the NFL, and we already have six Quarterback changes among the 32 teams.

Ponder > Mcnabb

After starting 1-5, and only leading the Vikings to three points in the first half of last Sunday nights Vikings versus Bears game. Quarterback Donavan McNabb was benched for first round draft pick Christian Ponder. Ponder came in the second half, and surprisingly played well going 9/17 for 99 yards including an 8 yard scramble for a first down. The game was out of reach by halftime anyway, so coach Leslie Frazier decided to give the rookie a shot, and on Monday morning Leslie Frazier announced that Christain Ponder would be the starting Quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. However Ponder doesn't start out easy he will go up against the defending champion Green Bay Packers, who are the only unbeaten left in the NFL. As for McNabb this will mark the second year in a row he has been benched because of poor play. Over the past two years McNabb has gone 6-13 in the games he has started. So does this mark the end of the road for Donavan McNabb? were not sure, but Donavan says he sill has a lot of football left in him he just doesn't know where.

Tebow Time!
Probably the most exciting QB change of the week is Tim Tebow getting the start Vs the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Coach John Fox named Tebow the starter last Tuesday coming off the Broncos 29-24 loss to the San Diego Chargers. Tebow played the second half of Sundays game, and provided a spark of offense that the Broncos needed. Going 4-10 for 79 yards Tebow passed for a score, rushed for a score, and almost hooked up with reciever Matt Willis in the back of the endzone for the game winning Touchdown. All season long Bronco fans have been chanting Tebows name. Fans have even put up billboards around the city in Tebows support this is who they have wanted to start since day one. The Tebow era in Denver begins now. Can Tebow bring to the Broncos what Elway did back in the 90's? i dont think he has what it takes to be an elite quarterback in this league, but i think he has the potential to be better than Kyle Orton and lead the Broncos to the playoffs within the next couple of years.

Beck > Grossman....Well Beck=Grossman
Many thought John Beck was going to be the starter going into the 2011 NFL season that is untill Mike Shannahan changed his mind just weeks before the season started. Shannahan went with Rex Grossman to start the season saying "I'm going with whoever gives us the best chance to win." But really it was only a matter of time until "Bad Rex" showed up, and Shannahan was going to make the switch. Grossman threw four interceptions to the Eagles defense on Sunday all in the first half including three to one player. That marked Rex's 9th interception on the season, and Shannahan had seen enough. In this Week seven matchVs the Carolina Panthers John Beck will be under center for just his fifth career start. Beck was a second round draft pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2007, and played a role his rookie season when the Disastrous Dolphins went a whopping 1-15. Beck started four games that season losing all four of them throwing one touchdown pass to three interceptions with a 64.1 QB Rating. After witnessing his starts with the Dolphins, and witnessing Rex just play football in general. The Redskins don't have a QB on this roster that can lead them to the Superbowl or the Playoffs. Even though the Redskins are currently 3-2 i still can't see them doing any better than 6-10 this season no matter who their Quarterback is, and i can see Mike Shannahan trying to go back to Grossman later on in the season when John Beck is throwing just as many picks as players on the field. Maybe John Beck can prove me wrong and lead this team into the playoffs the season is far from over, and know one in this division has yet to eclipse three wins.

QB Change In Oakland
Jason Campbell is reportedly out for the season after breaking his Collarbone, and before Tuesday the Raiders next option was Kyle Boller. On Tuesday morning the Raiders traded for former Bengals Quarterback Carson Palmer who hasn't played football since the 2010 season, but at this point anything is better than Boller. Hue Jackson has called it "The best trade in football" and just one day after arriving in Oakland Palmer was expected to start Sunday against the division rival Chiefs. A lotof speculation surrounded this "reported" decision, but Head Coach Hue Jackson had announced to the press that he is in "No rush" to make a decision, and he hasn't made a final decision yet. As of yesterday evening reports are saying that their is a 95% chance that Palmer will be a no go on Sunday, and Kyle Boller will most likely get his first start since arriving in Oakland last year. This makes sense for the Raiders because Palmer hasn't taken an NFL snap since last season, and Kyle Boller knows this offense better than Palmer at the moment. You don't want to take a risk by throwing Palmer out there on Sunday who hasn't even taken a hit by an NFL Player since last year. AllsBoller isn't getting it done then i think you take the chance and put Palmer out there, and see what he can bring to the table. After Sundays game the Raiders have a bye week which will give Palmer a whole extra two weeks to get back into football shape, and prepare the Raiders to continue to compete for the division win.

With the Raiders planning on Carson Palmer being their QB of the future. What does this mean for Jason Campbell? He was off to a pretty good start with the Silver and Black, and now the Raiders have replaced him. With the additions of Palmer and Linebacker Aaron Curry the Raiders are now without a pick through the first four rounds in this years NFL Draft. Look for the Raiders to try and trade Campbell at the end of this season or during the NFL Draft, and try to regain some of their early round draft picks back. Campbell has proven he has starting potential in this league, and if the Raiders aren't going to need him next season why wouldn't they go out and try to get something for him.

Jackson A No Go
Charlie Whitehurst is expected to start this Sunday Vs the Cleveland Browns, but Whitehurst isn't filling in because Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson is playing poorly. Starter Tarvaris Jackson injured his Pectoral two weeks ago versus the New York Giants. Jackson didn't practice at all last week, and has been limited this week. Whitehurst has been with the Seahawks ever since last year when he came over from San Diego via trade. The Seahawks are just coming off their bye week at 2-3, and even though San Francisco is off to a hot start the NFC West is still anybody's division.

Bradford Out With High Ankle Sprain
Exit Sam Bradford Enter A.J. Feeley. During Last Sundays game against the Packers, Rams sophomore Quarterback Sam Bradford suffered an ankle injury during the fourth quarter. Bradford hadn't been able to practice all week and was listed as questionable for Sundays game, and as of Saturday evening Bradford has been ruled out. Feeley was picked up at the start of training camp in 2010 by the Rams to serve the role as Bradford's backup, and now they have called his number (4.)  Feeley does have NFL experience as a starter going 8-8 over his career, in which his last start came in 2007 against the 12-0 Patriots who later on finished the regular season at a record setting 16-0. Feeley damn near beat the undefeated Patriots that season falling just an interception short.

Excluding Carson Palmer and Kyle Boller Quarterback A.J. Feeley has the most experience as a starter out of this bunch. I know Feeley's last start was in 2007, but after going back and watching Feeley's last start (Click on the link at the end of the article to watch A.J. Feeley's last start in the NFL). I'm going to give the Rams about a 51% chance to win on Sunday versus a Dallas team who Just can't seem to find a way to close out games this season. I'm going out on a huge limb by saying this, and i know the Rams have the worst scoring offense in the NFL, but I'm going with the St. Louis Rams as my upset pick for week seven!

http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d80487a28/NFL-GameDay-Eagles-vs-Patriots-highlights

Again it's only week seven in the NFL and we already have six new Quarterbacks taking snaps for their team. This marks the first time since 1999 that six Quarterback changes have came in one week. here are some other Quarterbacks i can see losing their jobs throughout the remainder of the season.

  • Mark Sanchez (Jets)
  • Matt Moore (Dolphins)
  • Kevin Kolb (Cardinals)
  • Sam Bradford (Rams)

Week 7: NFL Predictions

Washington @ Carolina:  Cam Newton is putting up the numbers just not the wins. I think he gets his second here over the soon to be struggling John Beck. Panthers win 28-17

Seattle @ Cleveland:  Despite Seattle's 2-1 record i think their a decent team, better than the Browns anyway. Seahawks win 24-14

Atlanta @ Detroit:  This game to me will prove if the Lions are for real, and if the Falcons are flukes. I think this one nearly misses OT. Falcons win 27-21

Denver @ Miami:  The Tim Tebow era begins, and he gets off to a good start. Meanwhile Brandon Marshall continues to lead the league in drops. Broncos win 27-24

San Diego @ New York Jets:  Game of the week! It may be a little early for a Sanchez benching but i wont be surprised if he takes a seat in this one. Phillip Rivers throw for 300+ while Chargers win 30-17

Chicago Vs Tampa Bay @ Wimbley Stadium in London England:  The Bucs have been playing really good football lately. Even on a nuetral Josh Freeman, Arrelious Benn, and Adrian Clayborne will all be factors in this game. Bucs win 15-7

Houston @ Tennessee: Game of the week! Houston looks to take over the AFC South with a win. I think they bounce back from their recent woes. Houston wins 20-17 (OT)

Pittsburgh @ Arizona:  Kevin Kolb just hasn't settled in yet for Arizona, and I'm not sure if he ever will. Arizona's a great team they just haven't been the same since Kurt Warner left the team in 2008. Pittsburgh for real, just off to a slow start. Pitt wins it 28-13

Kansas City @ Oakland:  Game of the Week! Carson Palmer probably wont start for the Raiders, but i think you can expect to see him at some point during the game. However the Chiefs have been on a hot streak lately Matt Cassel to Dwayne Bowe is a hot connection, but i think the Raiders win it 20-17 (OT)

St. Louis @ Dallas: UPSET ALERT! The Rams are probably the worst team in the league. But I look for A.J. Feeley to come out as aggresive as he did during his last start versus arguably the best team the NFL has ever seen. Rams win a close one 24-17

Green Bay @ Minnesota:  I think even Minnesota know their not gonna win this one. They just want to see what first round draft pick Christian Ponder can bring to the table. Green Bay on top 35-14

SNF Indianapolis @ New Orleans:  Peyton Manning is likely done for the year, and so far Curtis Painter isn't doing as bad as people expected. He hooks up for two TD's with WR Pierre Garcon and one TD with TE Dallas Clark, but they still fall 28-24

MNF Baltimore @ Jacksonville:  Joe Flacco needs to get on the same page with his receiver & coordinator Cam Cameron. I Think he does a better job this game. Ravens win it 31-17

In Other News...
  • Troy Polamalu was fined $10,000 by the NFL for talking on his cell phone after suffering a mild Concussion.

  • The Cardinals beat the Rangers last night 16-7, and now lead the World Series two games to one

On Top Of It

Great Sunday Of Football...Just Not For Coaches

During the first quarter of Sundays Saints Vs Bucs match up Saints Head coach Sean Payton tore his MCL after Saints Tight End Jimmy Graham took out his legs after finishing his first down reception. Payton finished coaching the first half with his leg propped up on the bench, however Payton did not return for the second half. Earlier this morning Payton underwent surgery to repair his injured leg, but Wait a minute it doesn't stop there. During the game Buccaneers Assistant coach Jimmy Lake injured his knee after celebrating a Buccaneers interception by Bucs Safety Tanard Jackson. Lake plans to have surgery done during Tampa's bye week.

I'm Still not done. All the hype of week 6 was from the post game feud between 49ers Head coach Jim Harbaugh and Lions Head coach Jim Schwartz. After Lions failed to convert on 4th down the 49ers had won the game. Coach Harbaugh was jumping up and down celebrating the 9ers dramatic win, as he crossed mid field. He met coach Schwartz, shook his hand, then what appeared to be Harbaugh patting him on the back. But Schwartz didn't take it that way Schwartz wasn't to happy as you can read his lips after Harbaugh pats/shoves him he appears to say "Da F***." Schwartz runs down Harbaugh bumps him, and they exchange a few unpleasant words. The coaches were then seperated.

After the game both coaches were of course asked about their encounter. Coach Harbaugh said "its totally on me i just shook his hand to hard" while Coach Schwartz said "Went to congratulate coach Harbaugh and got shoved out of the way, and didn't expect and obscenity at that point. It was a surprise to me."

In a dramatic 25-19 49ers win, emotions clearly got the best of both coaches. The two teams dont meet at anypoint during the rest of the regular season, and wont meet again unless both teams make it to the NFC Championship game. Here is the video of the postgame scuffle. You be the judge!

World Series

Game one of the 2011 World Series kicks off Wednesday as the Texas Rangers will battle the St. Louis Cardinals (Exact times TBA).

The St. Louis Cardinals are coming off a series clinching win (12-6) Vs the Milwaukee Brewers. Game five featured a MLB postseason record 6 home runs in the first three innings (three from each team). Including one from Albert Pujols and NLCS MVP David Freese, but who would of thought? The Cardinals were 10.5 games back of the wild card spot on August 25th, and now their on pursuit of a 10th World Series Championship. Cardinals ace Chirs Carpenter will get the start in game one, Carpenter has been phenomenal this postseason going 2-0 and is now 6-2 with a 3.11 ERA for his career.

In Arlington the Texas Rangers destroyed the tigers 15-5 in game 6 on Saturday. The bulk of it coming in the third inning when the Rangers erupted for nine runs off of six hits. Nelson Cruz blasted his sixth home run of the series during the seventh inning, earning him the ALCS MVP award. The Rangers out scored the
Tigers 39-25 to advance to their second straight World Series. C.J. Wilson gets the start for Texas, he too has been good in the postseason going 4-1 for his career with a 5.40 ERA. Texas looks to bring home their first ever World Series trophy in their 51 year franchise history.

Carson Palmer Traded To The Raiders

Around 10am Tuesday morning it became official that former Bengals Quarterback Carson Palmer has been traded to the Oakland Raiders for a first round pick and a future draft pick, which can turn into a first rounder depending on Palmer's play. Bengals owner Mike Brown had said before the season that he was NOT going to trade Palmer, and wanted him to finish out his contract even though Palmer didn't want to play for the team.

Sunday afternoon Raiders Quarterback Jason Campbell went down with a broken collarbone after a first down scramble, and it was known that Campbell would be out for at least 10 weeks possibly the whole season. The next guy up from Campbell was former Ravens Quarterback Kyle Boller who has proven that he is not the starter type going 20-26 with a career 70.4 passer rating. Then you have Supplemental Draft pick Terelle Pryor who is just coming off a five game suspension handed to him by Commissioner Goodell. Oakland doesn't think he's ready, and certainly doesn't want to put Pryor out there when Oakland is currently leading the division.

This is the first time since 2003 when Rich Gannon was Quarterback. that the Oakland Raiders have a legitimate shot to make the playoffs. Getting Carson Palmer makes sense for Oakland but did they give up to much? Oakland knew it would take ALOT to pry Palmer out of Mike Browns grasp, but they did it by giving up two possible first round picks. The Raiders want to compete and with the addition of Carson Palmer they are right back in the conversation. With a career 86.9 passer rating Palmer has proven he can move the ball down field, and if he starts to struggle can hand the ball off to the leagues leading rusher Darren McFadden. In my opinion this move makes the Raiders even better than before, and after a couple weeks of Palmer getting the system and playbook down watch out for the Raiders they will be a real threat to any and every team in the NFL.

In Other News..
  • Former Broncos receiver Brandon Lloyd has been traded to the Rams as of Monday afternoon

Its About That Time!

ALCS

Nelson Cruz after hitting the game winning HR
So far this series the Texas Rangers are crusing past the Detroit Tigers...Literally. On Wednesday night Rangers Outfielder Nelson Cruz hit a three run bomb in the top of the 11th to put the Rangers on top 7-3, and give Texas a 3-1 series lead. Jose Valverde was docked four runs in the 11th inning alone to take his first loss of the 2011 postseason. Tigers Skipper Jim Leyland called it "One of the best games hes ever been involved in." The spotlight isnt anything new to Cruz: in game two of the ALCS Cruz jacked baseballs first postseason walk-off grand slam to beat the Tigers 7-3. Game five kicks off this evening at 4:15pm Eastern Time, its a possible series clincher for the Rangers so look for the tigers to pitch around Cruz if he comes up in a tie game in the 9th.

C.J. Wilson goes in game five as Texas is looking to advance to their second straight World Series, but their gonna have to do it with Tigers ace and likely Cy Young award winner Justin Verlander on the hill.

It was the Cardinals who came out victorious in Wednesdays game four against the Brewers. St. Louis got their rally going early as they scored four runs off Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo in the 1st, but that would be all they would need as Cardinals Pitcher Chirs Carpenter gave up only three runs coming in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Albert Pujols and David Freese both picked up their sixth RBI in the postseason, as Chirs Carpenter is now 7-2 all time in his career in the postseason. Brewers Shortstop Yuniesky Betancourt continues to remain hot picking up his third RBI in the postseason, as pitcher Yovani Gallardo falls to 2-1 career in the postseason.

Game four kicks off Thursday night 8:15pm Eastern Time Cardinals pitcher Kyle Lohse will get the start, Lohse last start came 12 days ago where he lost 11-6 to the eliminated Phillies. The Brewers will send the Veteran Randy Wolfe to the mound whos coming off of a 10-6 loss to the eliminated Diamondbacks on October 5th.

Tebow Time!

one of the many Tebow Billboards in Denver
All the chants and billboards have finally paid off as Denver Bronco fans have got what they wanted. Tim Tebow will get the start for the 1-4 Broncos next Sunday afternoon versus the stuggiling Miami Dolphins. Tebow was great in college breaking many records, and winning two National championships in four years. In the NFL Tebow is a measly 1-3. It was towards the end of last season when Tebow was given the opportunity to start when now benched Quarterback Kyle Orton went down.

Still a lot of criticism has surrounded Tim Tebow during his NFL career saying "hes not accurate enough"  "he can't make the big play downfield" former Falcons and Seahawks head coach Jim Mora Jr. said "Hes the type of guy i would want my daughter dating not Quarterbacking my football team."

I however am more of a believer in Tim Tebow i think at the very least the broncos can be better with him than with previous starter Kyle Orton. In just his 5 games on the field Tebow has 11 Touchdowns (Six rushing) to just three interceptions. Whether the coaches want to believe in him or not, number 15 provides a spark for this offense. Sure hes not as accurate as Tom Brady or Drew Brees but he knows how to find open receivers and is a legitimate threat to run the ball anytime or anywhere, and on Sunday the Miami Dolphins plan to honor the 2009 NCAA Champion Florida Gators a team in which Tim Tebow was Quarterback. This week the Broncos have a bye week, and Tim Tebow says he plans to take no vacations. Instead he plans to spend his time prepping for the Miami Dolphins.

Week 6 NFL Predictions

Carolina @ Atlanta: Matt Ryan has lost only 4 games in 4 years at home. I want to go against him but i cant Falcons win over Rookie of the year Cam Newton 28-21

Indianapolis @ Cincinatti: Andy Dalton continues to surprise Bengals win 20-17 (OT)

San Francisco @ Detroit: Game of the Week! Ford Field will be going crazy for this one Lions win 28-24

St. Louis @ Green Bay: Blowout..Green Bay wins it 35-14

Buffalo @ New York Giants: You never know what to expect from Eli Manning but i expect good things from him &  Running Back Ahmad Bradshaw Giants win 24-21

Jacksonville @ Pittsburgh: i think this game may be closer than many expect. However Steelers win 28-17

Philadelphia @ Washington: Mike Vick is serious he wants to save Andy Reids job, and the Redskins still have Rex Grossman as QB Philly wins it 20-17

Houston @ Baltimore: Baltimore has one of the best home field advantages in the league. Ravens win 34-21

Cleveland @ Oakland: As Al Davis would say "Just Win Baby" and the raiders will 24-17

Dallas @ New England: i think this game will be fairly close Dallas has a very good chance...but Romo fails to convert on 4th down and Brady throws for 500 yards. Patriots win 35-28

New Orleans @ Tampa Bay: Tampa Bay seems to be much better at home but i still don't think they can take down the saints. Saints win 30-17

SNF Minnesota @ Chicago: Jay Cutler continues to run for his life and as long as the Vikings pound it with Adrian Peterson they win 21-14. If AP doesn't run for at least 95 yards Vikings fall 17-10

MNF Miami @ New York Jets: Dolphins still fail to pick up their first win of the season. Jets win 27-14

In Case You Didn't Know

Cardinals 1 Philllies 0

Cards get their first NLCS birth since 2006
After grounding out to Cardinals Second Baseman Nick Punto to end the Phillies season all you could hear were boos, boos, and more boos. Philly fans were booing the now injured Ryan Howard who after the game trainers think he may of tore his Achillies. Howard will have an MRI done on Saturday to determine the details of the injury. As many years as a sportsfan i've never seen so much disrespect from ANY fanbase, but its no surprise that this comes from the same city that booed and threw snowballs at Santa Claus. A great performance from (The Doc) Roy Halladay was only to be outshined by Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter allowing only three hits and no earned runs to a hungry Phillies lineup. in what could be one of the postseasons most impressive pitching performances in history.

Brewers 3 Diamondbacks 2

Carlos Gomez scores winning run in the 10th inning
The Cardinals now move on to the NLCS to face baseballs best home team the Milwaukee Brewers who themselves are coming off an impressive win. After a shaky 8th Inning by the newly acquired Krod (Francisco Rodriguez) and a blown save by Brewers Closer John Axford; (who by the way hasn't blown a save in 40 plus straight apperances.) It took a 10th inning walk off single by Brewers center fielder Nyjer Morgan a.k.a T-Plush to push the Brewers past the Diamondbacks, and to send the Brewers to their first NLCS since 1982. The series kicks off Sunday afternoon at Milwaukee 4:05pm Eastern Time. The pitching rotation for both ball clubs has not been set at this time.

Tigers 3 Yankees 2

Valverde after A-Rod Strikeout
A-Rod Comes up Small
The Texas Rangers ALCS opponent wait is over as the Detroit Tigers finshed off the AL favorite New York Yankees 3-2 on Thursday night. Tigers pitcher Doug Fister got the win allowing only one earned run in five innings. Allowing the MLB saves leader Jose Valverde (Papa Grande) to shut the door on the Yanks. Yankees Skipper Joe Girardi used a variety of pitchers in Thursday nights loss including CC Sabathia who coincidentally gave up the games winning run. Starter Ivan Nova surrendered back to back first inning solo shots to tigers hitters Don Kelly and Delmon Young. Nova was taken out to start the third inning for pitcher Phil Hughes due to "forearm tightness" alot of speculation surrounding that decision, and the others as well. Hughes pitched a little more than one inning before being yanked for lefty Boone Logan, Logan finished out the fourth inning before being pulled for Yankees ace CC Sabathia. Sabathia surrendered the go ahead run later that inning to Tigers Catcher Victor Martinez not knowing that the Yankees would be done soon after. Girardi used three other pitchers after Sabathia including Closer Mariono Rivera. However in the bottom of the ninth the Yankees had a chance to send the game into extras. With Valverde pitching and Alex Rodriguez at bat A-Rod strikes out, but really who was expecting A-Rod to get clutch..no one..Rodriguez struck out for the sixth time this postseason preserving a 3-2 Tigers win. However A-Rod did make history thursday just not the good kind. He became the first player in MLB history to strike out two years in a row ending his teams season. Game one of the ALCS between the Tigers and Rangers kicks off Saturday night at 8:05pm eastern time. Its the battle of the best Justin Verlander gets the start for the Tigers as C.J. Wilson will start for the Rangers. Be there!

NFl Week 5 Predictions

Philadelphia @ Buffalo: The Choking Eagles find a way to win in Buffalo 32-31

New Orleans @ Carolina: Drew Brees goes down as Cam Newton gets his second career win 35-30

Oakland @ Houston: Darren Mcfadden goes for 125 but the raiders still fall 28-21

Kansas City @ Indianapolis: Curtis Painter stays 0-2 as a starter as his bounce passes arent enough for the Dwayne Bowe & Matt Cassell hook up Chiefs win 17-14

Cincinatti @ Jacksonville: Blaine Gabbert gets his first NFL win 20-13 as the Bengals drop to 3-2. How the hell did they get to 3-1 anyways?

Arizona @ Minnesota: Donvan Mcnabb gets his first win as a Viking as a loud Metradome keeps the cardinals out of it 24-21

Seattle @ New York Giants: the Giants D gets to a nervous Tavaris Jackson, Seattle falls 26-13

Tennessee @ Pittsburg: Old Matt Hassleback actually has two feet to play on Titans win 20-17 (OT)

Tampa Bay @ San Francisco: A battle of the 3-1's Tampa goes 4-1 winning 28-21

San Diego @ Denver: The Tebow chants continue in denver as the Chargers win 28-10

New York Jets @ New England: Mark Sanchez sucks and continues to sucks Pats win 31-14

SNF Green Bay @ Atlanta: Game of the week Rodgers throws for 300 yards, but Atlanta wins it  31-28

MNF Chicago @ Detroit: Jay Cutlers a whimp if the bears have any shot the D will have to keep them in it..but that doesnt happen as Detroit goes 5-0 Lions win 40-28

NFL=NATIONAL FINING LEAGUE

Four Players were docked 15 grand last Sunday for so called "dirty" hits. Richard Seymor and Haloti Ngata among the players fined. Commissioner Roger "Badell" says Ravens Defensive End Haloti Ngata lead with the bottom of his helmet. Really? The bottom of his helmet? you might as well fine Mark Sanchez for wearing pink shoes too, or what about Troy Polamalu his hair is really long and wavy...lets fine him. This is just getting out of hand.

Yankees Manager Joe Girardi said in yesterdays press conference that their ace CC Sabathia will be available for tonights game if needed. Brewers Manager Ron Roenicke
To the National League where the Milwaukee Brewers are coming off their best regular season record in team histroy going 96-66, and are looking for their first World Series title in team history. The Brewers send Yovani Gallardo to the mound who finished 17-10 with a 3.52 ERA and 207 strikeouts. Milwaukee will try to put this game out of reach early with their clutch hitters Prince Fielder and Ryan Braun. Braun finished second only to Jose Reyes in the NL batting title, batting a career best .332 and enters game five batting .467 in the Postseason. Prince Fielder finished second in the NL only to Matt Kemp in home runs with 38, but Fielder thinks this will be his last year in Milwaukee. Prince just doesnt think the Brewers can afford to bring him back, however Prince says if this is his last year in Milwaukee he wants to go out with a bang.

Dbacks Manager Kirk Gibson

Arizona has won their last two games at home by a combined score of 18-7 to force a game five in Milwaukee. The Diamond Backs send 21 game winner Ian Kennedy to the mound where he is making only his second Postseason start. Kennedy finished tied for first with Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw. His last Start he gave up 4 runs to the Phils in a no decision where the Cards pulled off the win 5-4. On Tuesday Cardinals slugger Albert Pujols was complaining about the 4:00 game time because of the shadows casted around Busch Stadium. Pujols wont have anything to complain about on friday with an 8:30 pm start time. Carpenter has a career record of 5-2 in the Postseason with a 3.38 ERA. David Freese was the hero in game 4 by blasting a two run homer and two run double. The question is will he show up in game five?

Phillies Ace Roy Halladay

The Philadelphia Phillies send ace Roy Halladay to the mound. He is 3-1 for his career in the postseason including a no hitter. Hallady went 19-6 to finish out the regular season and is in the top conversation to win the NL Cy Young along with Clayton Kershaw.
